Bochum. The new kebab store in downtown Bochum offered kebabs for just one cent on opening day. This is how the campaign went down with the people.
The queue stretches around the entire block – for the opening of the “Haus des Döners” snack bar on Friday (13.) in downtown Bochum. It is certainly several hundred meters long. The reason? The unbeatable 1 cent kebab bags are offered for the opening day. The store is decorated with balloons and masked people, dressed up like in the popular series “Money Heist”, stroll through the crowd.

Before the doors open at noon, a long line of hungry people has already formed. Joshua and Keen stand anxiously in the long line. They heard about the event from a colleague and think “for 1-cent kebabs, you have to strike.” Even the police have come by to keep order a bit.
As the first people slowly exit the store with their kebab in hand, several nodding heads can be seen. Ömer announces, “Everything is fresh.” Maurice notes that the bread is “more awesome” than in other kebab stores. He says the group heard about the opening from Tiktok and thinks it’s at least as good as in other Bochum kebab stores.
This new snack bar is part of a chain that is run as a family business. There are already nine other such establishments across Germany, says managing director Ayhan Akyürekli. The idea, he says, is to attract customers with the opening offer. “And if people liked it, they’ll keep coming back,” he hopes, at least.
